About the project
The purpose of the project is to divulge the importance of preserving water resources. The implementation area is Jablaniška valley, located in the municipality of Litija and Šmartno in Litiji.
In villages Breg and Tenetiše are over one hundred wells that are no longer in use and can play a big role in changing the habits of the population regarding the drinking water. The tasks of the project are to identify and gather information on all village wells in area of Jablaniška valley and collecting water samples for analysis. The results of analysis will be presented at the workshop aimed at the local people. Based on the results the necessary measures that will help to remediate the current state of the water will be presented. We will increase then awareness of the people through education, promotional materials and publications specially focusing on the importance of proper management of water resources and safeguarding measures of the drinking water.
The project will include students from high school Litija witch will explore stream of Jablaniški potok and Sava river and research water pollution and animal species that live in this environment. We will also prepare water education trail, which will serve to raise awareness about the importance of nature conservation and safe drinking water.
